Fring enters the Symbian UIQ 3 market07.06.07

Via IntoMobile, Fring S60 VoIP client application, enters the Symbian UIQ 3 market. After just publishing Windows Mobile version last month, they are releasing version for UIQ 3 smartphones.

fring™ is a free mobile VoIP software that lets you talk and live chat (IM) using your handset’s Internet connection instead of costly mobile airtime (GSM) minutes. fring enables free mobile calls over Wi-Fi Internet access or your GPRS, EDGE or 3G Internet data plan.

A beneficial resource from Flash Lite Menu Tutorial blog; Flash Lite benchmark experiment. There are detailed information about the benchmark methodology and results of all tests, together with graphical representations. Nokia handsets show much better performance compared to Sony Ericsson. This might be expected, due to the standalone and browser based player difference.

Two new mobile developer centers from Adobe03.05.07

Adobe launches two new mobile developer centers; Flash development for Sony PSP and Flash Lite development for Sony Ericsson handsets.

We got our very first Sony Ericsson test device recently: W810i. Haven’t performed an extensive test yet, but as first impression; performance is poor and installed applications do not run in full screen at first time. I think the fact that Sony Ericsson doesn’t support standalone player has a dramatic effect on that. Will post more on that as we perform further testing.

The new Sony Ericsson Macromediaâ„¢ Flash Liteâ„¢ 1.1 Developers’ Guidelines give an overview of how Macromedia Flash Lite is implemented in a range of Sony Ericsson mobile phones. This document outlines some of the issues faced when designing Flash Lite content for mobile phones and lists the Flash features supported by each phone in grid. Phones supported in this document include the W200, W810 and W850 Walkman® phones and the K610im i-modeâ„¢ phone.
