Nokia today released Qt 4.6, the latest version of the cross-platform application and UI framework. Featuring new platform support, powerful new graphical capabilities and support for multi-touch and gestures, Qt 4.6 makes developing advanced applications and devices easier and more enjoyable.

Qt for Symbian is no more technology preview stage, according to videos the performance seems to vary between adequate to excellent.

Qt appears now to be much more tempting for mobile developers demanding better UX. For Nokia devices, with Qt technology you can create applications besides for S60, also for Maemo in future, perhaps for S40 as well.

That’s a really good news: Adobe today announced availability of a new market development fund of $10 Million under Open Screen Project. This is a great opportunity for Flash Lite developers to get paid and take their ideas and products to the market.

The Open Screen Project Fund is a US$10 million market development fund that will provide grants to developers in order to accelerate the creation of applications, content, and services that leverage the Adobe® Flash® Platform and run across mobile, desktop, and consumer electronics devices.

The Open Screen Project Fund is seeking applications in the following focus areas: entertainment, business, social networking, productivity, gaming, travel, multimedia, health, finance, weather, sports, news, education, and more. The key will be creating applications that work across multiple devices and leverage Adobe Flash Lite® software, the Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR® runtimes, and the Nokia platform.

If you are new to design and development of content with Flash Lite, there’s a new video presentation available online at Adobe Mobile and Devices Developer Center. The video training aims to get you started quickly with the basics of Flash Lite 3 with Adobe Flash CS4. The author of the video is Dale of Moket. The interactive video training was directed and produced by Gabriel Gasca and slides were created by Darren Osadchuk of Ludicrous Software.

ActionScript Service API toi paljon uutta myös Flash Lite sovelluskehittäjille.

Kokemuksemme PlatForm Services API:sta Nokia 5800 kosketusnäytöllisen puhelimen kanssa ovat olleet pääsääntöisesti myönteisiä. API:n avulla Flash Lite sovellus integroituu helposti esimerkiksi Google Maps palveluun, informoi saapuneista sähköposteista, näyttää kalenterimerkinnät, toteuttaa näyttävät eleohjaukset ja niin edelleen.

API:a käytettäessä epämieluisaa on (poikkeuksetta?) se että käynnistettäessa sovellusta vaaditaan käyttäjää erikseen sallimaan puhelimen tietojen ja tilojen lukeminen ja painalluksia vaaditaan jostain syystä useita. Sovelluksen asentaminen “data\others\trusted” kansioon (tuttu 3rd edition:sta) ei tunnu vaikuttavan asiaan.

For those of you who missed it (really??) latest KuneriLite versions have added support for Flash Lite ringtones, one of the coolest FlashLite features around!!

Today, we’ll see how it is simple to create a FlashLite ringtone with caller-id support and an application that allows users to easily set and unset it.
