Ericsson Application Awards page

Just spreading the word and reminding of: Ericsson has the deadline in the end of January, for registration of team for the great opportunity for student developers to gain exposure with the telecom world and have a chance to win upwards of EUR 20,000 in prize money.

That’s right, the competition is for students, but any company can participate as discussion partner to support the students during the development. Students should choose the company contact to join the competition. Process is described here. The point of the competition is to utilize Ericsson Labs enablers.

If you know any talented postgraduate or undergraduate students why not give them a hint :)

Symbian themes in style01.31.08

1.jpgI don’t usually post about mobile phone themes; I know there are thousands of those and most of them are not any more special than the other. But I recently got a nice introduction from Ishtiaq and I liked his work and enthusiasm. He is a real musicaholic and creates those good looking Symbian (Nokia) themes in his free time and publishes on NokiaSymbianThemes.com for free: Nice hobby ;) And (almost) none of them has this annoying links on background image. Except being huge in file size (1 MB+) and using bitmap images, I am positive about those themes.

I liked Fury, Baby Blue and Revolvers. Check out his site, am sure there are some you will enjoy also.

Buy Flash Lite content now from Club Moket!12.04.07

News from Dale, about new Flash Lite sales channel:

 Club Moket (clubmoket.mobi on your phone browser) is, to our knowledge, the first off-deck mobile portal dedicated to selling Flash Lite content. We have launched first with our “Mokimations” catalogue, featuring animated wallpapers and screensavers. Q1-2 2008 will see games, applications and mobile video added to the service. We’re really pushing out content that shows off the great visual nature of Flash, as well as handset interactivity (for clocks, random animations, MoCarbon products, etc)

Flash Lite contests10.08.07

Probably it’s Flash Lite contest season;

SWX contest by Aral;

Create any cool experiment, site, application, and/or mashup that uses SWX RPC, either with SWX PHP or without writing any server-side code at all by using the SWX APIs on the Public SWX Gateway. You can choose to use the SWX ActionScript Library (recommended) or go native with loadMovie()!

All entries must play back in the Flash Player (SWX RPC is supported on Flash Player 6 and above, and Flash Lite 2.x). You cannot use SWX RPC with ActionScript 3/Flash 9/Flex 2 projects at the moment (a version for AVM2 is in the works.)

Mobile Contest in association with Playoo;

Are you a Flash games developer? Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, hobbyist or professional, you can put your Flash Lite games in front of a big audience, with the chance to build a following. Start now by entering the launch contest, and you can also win significant prizes.

What Flash Lite content is selling in Japan?09.01.07

DC has a great post about the kinds of content selling in Japan. Although Japanese culture and habits are quite different from the rest of the world, it still can give an idea about incoming possibilities.

I get asked a lot by overseas companies, “what FlashLite content is actually selling in Japan?”

So here’s a round-up. Over here its custom menus, mobile games, and of course intro animations for sites to make them look pretty.

Read the rest here.
